About Us

The Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH) was formed in October 2014 as an independent group of community volunteers committed to addressing the serious issues associated with homelessness in the Palisades. For several years, PPTFH functioned as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, providing homeless outreach services through our service provider, The People Concern; organizing cleanups of abandoned encampments in our fire-prone hillsides; holding community forums and webinars; and distributing a newsletter. In June 2023 we ended our nonprofit status and entered a new partnership with The People Concern as our fiscal sponsor.

As “fiscal sponsor,” The People Concern, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, receives funds donated to PPTFH (and sends tax-deductible receipts to donors); reports to PPTFH leaders on the uses of those funds; and provides homeless outreach services through the designated Palisades Outreach Team.

PPTFH remains an all-volunteer organization with the same goal as always: providing resources to address the destructive effects of homelessness in the Palisades—specifically, to provide homeless people with compassionate services toward permanent supportive housing and to promote the safety of our community.

Together, the Outreach Team and the PPTFH Volunteer Response Team (VRT) are the “core strength” of our organization. They serve the needs of all people in our community, both housed and unhoused. The VRT coordinates with the LAPD Beach Patrol to maintain community safety and protection. It clears abandoned encampments, helps maintain fire-hazard zones to prevent illegal camping, and collaborates with the LA Fire Department, County Beaches and Harbors Department, and City Recreation and Parks Department.
